1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Heart to Heart Integrated Care Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2045, five years ahead of the UK Government’s national target of 2050. As a provider of supported living and community-based care services, we recognise our responsibility to operate sustainably, reduce our environmental footprint, and contribute positively to the communities we serve.

5. Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Completed / Ongoing Initiatives (2023–2025):

  • Upgraded to LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances in all offices and supported living homes.
  • Switched to a green energy supplier providing 50% renewable electricity.
  • Introduced digital care planning and e-learning systems to reduce paper and travel.
  • Promoted remote meetings and electronic documentation for management and support teams.
  • Implemented waste segregation and recycling in all premises.
  • Provided eco-driving training for staff using company vehicles.

Planned Initiatives (2025–2030):

  • Transition to fully electric or hybrid vehicles by 2028.
  • Achieve 100% renewable energy use in all offices and supported living properties by 2027.
  • Introduce carbon-conscious procurement policies to engage suppliers in emission reduction.
  • Install smart thermostats and motion sensors to reduce unnecessary heating and lighting usage.
  • Launch a ‘Green Champions’ staff programme to encourage sustainable behaviour.
  • Work with local authorities to source sustainable transport options for service users.

6. Governance and Responsibility

The Managing Director and Operations Director hold overall responsibility for implementing and reviewing this Carbon Reduction Plan. A Sustainability Lead (appointed internally) will monitor emissions, coordinate training, liaise with suppliers, and report progress annually to the management board.

7. Carbon Offsetting

Where direct reduction is not immediately possible (e.g., emergency transport), Heart to Heart Integrated Care will invest in verified carbon offset projects such as UK-based tree planting and renewable energy development, starting in 2027.

8. Declaration and Sign-Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN06/21 and associated guidance. It has been reviewed and approved by the organisation’s senior leadership.
